Simba Original Hybrid Mattress & Why We Like It

The lovely people at Simba sent us a mattress to review. One of the grown up youngsters decided it would be a good fit, and delivery of the double hybrid mattress came swiftly.

The box is a bit deceptive size wise, but it is a very heavy box, so be careful when attempting to move it around. We’re new to the Simba mattress, so it’s been a lovely mattress for us to review. I’ve often wondered about Simba mattresses as I’ve seen adverts in the past, but had no experience of them.

A little information about the new Simba Hybrid Mattresses.

Simba says:

Better sleep is on the way. Because your Simba Hybrid mattress has all the tech you need for cooler, cushioned, comfortable sleep. It’s a positive choice for the planet too: our Hybrid mattresses are 100% recyclable and made right here in the UK.

Be careful cutting the wrapping, as we don’t want to risk cutting through to the mattress itself. The mattress expands an awful lot once it is removed from its wrapping. There are guide marks to help us get it right. Don’t try unrolling it beside anything fragile, as it springs out from the plastic wrap with some force.

What did we like about the Simba Hybrid Mattress?

  • A huge bonus was that the Simba Hybrid Mattress is 100% recyclable and made in the UK. Who doesn’t love a home grown product.
  • Certified recycled mattress cover.
  • Replacement mattress covers are available from only Ā£49, to be able to extend the life of the mattress. I think we’ll be buying one of those fairly quickly, to ensure we have one when the time comes. These are hypoallergenic and easily fitted.
  • Our mattress has 5 layers, is 25cms deep and is a medium firm mattress. With 1 comfort spring layer and CertiPURĀ® foam base with stabilising core foam layer.
  • There is also a zip off cover and 10 year guarantee with a 200 night trial.

Opening the Box

Unravelling was easy enough, although the mattress is absolutely very heavy. We popped it on the mattress base before opening the wrapping and letting it do it’s thing. It takes about 6-8 hours to be fully inflated, which we left if to do its own. Simba will even recycle your old mattress for a small fee if you have no way of having the mattress removed and taken to refuse. They will ensure it is recycled professionally.

We left the mattress for a few hours, then it was getting late and the young ones decided it was time to test it out and have a sleep. Simba also sells bedding, duvets, pillows and more. At the moment, there are free gifts with every mattress purchased from the website, which is a huge bonus of being full bed in a box with all the trimmings.

The Young One Says

After now sleeping on the mattress for several nights, the young adult who is sleeping on it, is finding it is helping with headaches. It keeps him cooler than his old mattress and and seems to be a perfect combination of support and comfort at the same time. When it was first expanding, we wondered if it might be too soft, as it was the top layer we felt the most, but once it had sat for a few hours, it became clear that the base of the mattress is the supportive element and those layers take a while to settle.

He has had less headaches since he used this mattress, and that might be due to the foam base and the layers agreeing more with him than his old one. With over 5x more airflow than memory foam, it has heat-diffusing graphite for cooler-feel cushioning. His old mattress did need changing, so it was a lovely surprise for him to able to have this Simba mattress.

With 250,000 five star reviews and such a highly rated mattress, he feels very fortunate to be sleeping on the comfort that he now has.

Simba Helping Low Income Children in Bed Poverty to have a Place to Sleep

Simba has partnered with Barnardo’s and Buttle UK charities to create a team that helps to identify children from low income families that need a bed, and then deliver one directly to them. Each child receives a bed bundle of a single bed base, mattress, two pillows, a duvet and a mattress protector.

Everyone should have access to a bed of their own. With customers support, Simba can send out more beds than already pledged, by everyone adding a donation to their order when they buy their next Simba product.
