Aberdeen Christian Fellowship is an independent Baptist Church on Union Grove, Aberdeen
The church has seen a huge increase in the number of families with young children attending their various activities through the week and have recently completed an extension project which has created more space and facilities.
Youth worker Gillian Mackenzie said ‘ We run lunchtime sessions for secondary pupils 3 times a week giving them a safe place to meet, eat their lunch and generally hang out with their friends and play table tennis, pool and video games.
We also host a baby massage session on Wednesdays and we have a really popular Mainly Music group which meets on Thursdays – mums, babies and toddlers get together to sing and play and you’re never too far away from cake ! We have various youth groups meeting throughout the week and our aim is to serve the people of our city in whatever way we can – this has recently involved simply picking up litter on Union Grove or packing bags of groceries for the hundreds of people in Aberdeen who simply can’t afford to eat well.
We’re also about to commence a pastoral nurse scheme which will allow a trained nurse to operate from the church giving health information and advice to local residents of all ages. We have a fortnightly women’s bible study on Mondays at 9:30 which is ideal for mums with school age kids’
A major summer event for us is a kids’ club called Step out which is running from 2nd-6th July and 8th July (all age family service) with programme as follows:
- Kids club: For Age 4 – P6 from 10am-12pm Monday – Friday. There will be games, craft, music, drama and Bible Stories.
- Youth Cafe: For P7- S6 from 7pm-9pm Monday – Friday with themed nights, group Bible studies and of course messy games!
- Step Out family Service: Sunday 8th July at 10.30am come and see what we have been up to all week!
